Our Story

Meet Will Ramsey, designer and creator, and Madeleine Ramsey, creative director and tester, the team behind Synthesis Activewear.

Their story began in 2023. Madeleine and Will met through ballet, with Madeleine five years into her professional ballet career and Will a classical musician and powerlifter looking for a new physical and artistic challenge. Will took his first ballet class, and the rest is history. Now happily married, Will and Madeleine perform together in dance festivals and yearly productions of The Nutcracker in Wilmington, North Carolina.

For years, Madeleine was frustrated with activewear options. Gym clothes often felt cheap, uncomfortable, revealing, and uninspired. She frequently found herself wearing ballet leotards to the gym, layering leggings or bike shorts over them. While this helped her feel more confident, there was still a problem: traditional leotards dug into her hips and created visible lines underneath her leggings and shorts.

In the summer of 2025, Will had an idea: Why not combine the elegant, feminine details of ballet leotards with the durability and comfort of the latest gymwear?

In July, Will purchased his first sewing machine from Facebook Marketplace and got to work.

Now, Will and Madeleine are excited to share their vision with you: high-quality performance wear that supports, empowers, and inspires confidence.
